Trailfest begins

Trailfest begins

It was a little rocky to start our vacation but so far it’s been great.

The Friday night before we left, I really injured my little toe. We went to urgent care on Saturday to find out if running on it would injure it further.  X-rays showed no break or fracture and my athletic doctor specifically didn’t discourage our Trailfest.  After hobbling for a few days, I can walk on it and should be able to run on it in a couple days—-maybe with Tylenol.

We caught an early flight out of Redmond on Tuesday to Las Vegas.  Vegas was fine.  We simply caught an Uber to a storage facility where we picked up our cute camper van, called Foxyvan.  The camper van is small but it seems to have everything we’re going to need, hopefully.  I say hopefully because the RV battery has a frowny face tonight and seems to have died, so the refrigerator isn’t working.  It’s not a big deal.

After a quick trip to Wal-Mart for some snacks and other items, we headed to St. George, Utah. We drove through the Virgin River Gorge, which was really beautiful.  There’s climbing there, so Mike was gawking as he drove. J We’re camping at the amazing Snow Canyon State Park.  It’s beautiful and our camping spot (campsite 22) appears to be one of the best here.  It’s large, quiet, peaceful, and backed with a sandstone wall that is just stunning.  We’ll see how the camper van sleeps tonight.
