Vicki’s Two-Week Tour

Vicki’s Two-Week Tour

The last two weeks have been remarkable and memorable. I had four of my favorite things in a whirlwind adventure.

It started with a trip to Spain. I met Peggy Ward in Seville to run the Seville Marathon. We had four action-packed days. The marathon was great - though very hard for the last 8 miles probably because I started too fast. My race time was a little over a minute slower than Berlin, no too bad. We then explored Spain as much as we were able for the next couple of days. We saw the Seville Cathedral, including Christopher Columbus’s remains, another beautiful church where many people were trading Catholic cards at the entrance, took a tour bus ride, explored a number of parks, drank a lovely Sangria, went to a flamenco museum and then later saw live flamenco dancers, and ate great food. It was so much fun to spend time with her, talk about everything, and explore a new city.

The next stop on my whirlwind adventure was Orlando, Florida. I flew in very late and met Mike at the hotel. We spent 3 days at DisneyWorld and really enjoyed just spending time together. We rode a few rides, reminded me that I’m not a fan of rollercoasters anymore, walked around and saw each of the parks, and ate some entertaining meals in Disney Springs.

Mike flew back home on Saturday to be with Dory while I drove to St. Petersburg, FL for a FDCC meeting. The meeting was great and it was wonderful to see my friends and meet new people, though I may have volunteered to help with too many things in addition to my normal meetings: the FedServes event, hosting pickleball, hosting and organizing the fun run, and speaking for Heather Sanderson. While at an art museum for an event, I made an impulse buy of a bracelet that I just loved. St. Pete is beautiful and worth visiting again.

I flew home on Wednesday, bringing a cold with me. It was so great to be home again!
