Yosemite

Our luck got better today.  The trailer battery lasted until about 4am this morning before running low and causing the refrigerator to wake us beeping because it didn’t have enough power to monitor the temperature.  Frankly, we’re thrilled it lasted until 4am.  Mike plugged in the trailer into the Jackerie (an external battery that we paid an arm and leg for but is soooo worth it and that we lovingly call “the Jackalope”), and we went back to sleep until 6am.  This morning, we saw that Iris is looking better and limping less.  We had a quick breakfast and visited the Yosemite Valley to avoid the crowd.

As we entered the Valley, it was absolutely stunning.  There was a haze still covering everything, making the rock walls and valley appear whimsical and majestic.  El Capitan was breathtaking, and it’s unreal to think people climb it.  We really enjoyed exploring the park this morning and hope to return when we can hike it.  We were pretty limited on what we could do because of Iris and her injury but Mike saw the boulder problem “Ride the Lightning” that he wanted to see at Camp 4, we oggled at the amazing scenery, had a picnic snack, and joyed the light crowds.  Lunch was at a nice restaurant at a lodge just outside the park from our campground, and it was great.

Mike is trying to catch the sun to charge the Jackalope .
