We’re moving…just not sure where

Phew - rough couple of weeks for us. We completely recognize our tough weeks are nowhere close to what other people are going through right now during the pandemic and significant racial unrest and protests. We’re very grateful for all the opportunities and blessings that we have.

We got good news. Matt (our contractor) said we should be in the house by November and maybe as early as October. We are so excited. The house really looks great so far and we love visiting it. We’ve named it the Villa, with Mom and Dad’s being the Casa, and finishing out the trifecta with the Casita. We’re quite tired of being here in Portland and we’re tired of being in the rental house. We’ve been thinking of moving to central Oregon for some time and Matt’s news advanced our search. We told our landlord that we’re moving out by July 26. Exciting!

Finding a place that works for the three of us (including Iris) hasn’t been easy. Add that to the work stress we’re both feeling, and we’ve been on edge for a couple weeks. This week, we found the perfect place in central Oregon- it was close-ish to the house, big enough for us both to work from home, and the price was great. Mike had several conversations with the homeowner over Airb’n b, and we booked it in advance of our visit to see it this weekend. Then, the homeowner cancelled our reservation because they wouldn’t make enough money if we stayed there three months. They were new to Airb’n b and didn’t know what they were doing. We understood and tried to negotiate a new amount but they were greedy and we couldn’t make the numbers work, plus we started to feel frustrated with the process and their inexperience. So, back to square one and 29 days left in this place.

We started packing today and actually had fun doing it. It’s going to be a big pain in the butt to move but we’re ready.
