Wildfire Nightmare

Luckily, it’s not a nightmare for us personally but the western side of Oregon is on fire. The fire is approximately 20 miles from Oregon City, and Skip and others are on Level 2 alert. (Level 3 alert is Go Now). A thick cloud of smoke is hanging over much of the state, including Bend. We have the worse air quality in the world right now - not a distinction we really wanted.

The three of us are huddled in the rental, without A/C or a way to clean the air. The A/C unit here is the type that actually pulls in outside air from other sources, so using it just adds smoke into the unit. I’m really tired of feeling like I live over a campfire. I’m feeling a little melodramatic this morning - I got little sleep last night because every breath tastes and smells of smoke. But, we’re lucky compared to many people. There are no fires near us or the house.

UPDATE:

We retrieved our air purifier from storage and the apartment is already feeling better.
