England- Work, History, and Frogger

May 26

The last day of the conference was an easier day for Mike. Not as many customer testimonials and less time required for him to be videoing the conference. His day ended around 4:30pm.

I had planned to visit Parliament Square but when I got to the Tube station, the train I wanted wasn’t running. I decided to walk to another Tube station nearby and catch a different, more direct train but got distracted. I found myself wandering the streets of London again. I found: a beautiful old church with stain glass windows that looked like it still showed signs of the 1666 fire (or maybe a different fire); the Royal Exchange was a large, beautiful building; the London Magistrate’s Court (which wasn’t as interesting as I thought it might be); and many small, old brick churches with lovely gardens. I toured St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was amazing. I ate lunch in Paternoster Square under the beautiful sun and the dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral (bad selfie but cool spot for lunch). I visited the British Museum but found myself a little bored while looking at the ancient Mesopotamian, etc. artifacts. Maybe I was tired – I had walked nearly four hours by then and my feet hurt. I did enjoy the Egyptian artifacts and Greek sculptures, and I saw the Rosetta Stone. I probably didn’t give the museum enough time or credit but I was done. I found a Tube station and headed back.

Jaywalking is expected here. They have painted signs on the ground at the intersections to Look Right or Look Left. I love it- it’s a bit like the game Frogger. The cars drive pretty quickly.

Mike and I walked along the south waterfront again for dinner. We had trouble finding a place to eat (because we were both dragging and no one could make a decision) and ended up having mediocre pizza with really terrible Italian beer. But, the food didn’t matter too much. We enjoyed the company.
