The Banff Conclusion and a Summary of Our Weekend

The Banff Conclusion and a Summary of Our Weekend

It was a great week in Banff – full of activities and meeting some neat people.  I finished up the week with a 5 mile hike on Thursday and a 5K fun run on Friday.  We ran beside a couple of elk, which were about 10′ away, eating breakfast beside the trail.  The seminars were very good.  The most interesting to tell about related to automated vehicles, drones, Ebola treatment, and polar bears – the others were more law-related.  It seems like a really great organization, though a little old-school still.  Only 12% of the membership are women, but they’re working on it.

I was excited to see my family Friday evening.  Mike and I had a nice dinner at our local McMenamins.  Then, Saturday morning, I did the Welches Huckleberry 1/2 Marathon.  It kicked my butt.  It was warm and hilly, and I was tired before I even started the race. But, I got my picture taken with Marlo and two Sasquatch.  Mike and I had lunch with the Nedwicke clan in Gresham and then came home to take a nice long nap.

Mike was busy last week.  He received the drone he ordered for work and practiced with it in the school field.  It’s pretty cool.  He has a big project for work that will take until September to finish.  He’s also been adjusting his diet to include less carbs and has had great results so far.  This will be week 2 for him.

Iris had a fairly normal week.  She was happy to see me return, but she lost some of the real estate that she adversely possessed on the bed when I was away.  She enjoyed having both parents around this weekend and the extra walks.
