Fun Day at Hagg Lake

Fun Day at Hagg Lake

Hagg Lake is not far from our house but we rarely go there. Today, we hiked around part of the lake, about 6 miles. The weather was perfect! Iris had a great time. At one time, we stopped by the lake and she clearly indicated she wanted to fetch the stick. She was hesitant to go into the lake beyond where she could touch but, by the end of our time there, she was jumping into the waves and really going after the stick. We still had three miles to hike back, and Iris kept looking toward the water. I think she would have went swimming again if she could.

On the way back, we took a shortcut and had to take off our socks and shoes to forge the cold, raging river (a small stream). Iris was not confident walking across the rocks in the stream.

We stopped by the Helvetia Tavern on the way home because they had a patio where Iris could join us. It was really busy and the food was only OK. The tavern is in the middle of fields north of highway 26, really the middle of no where. It was fun watching the donkey and goat with really weird horns (4 horns) at the farm across the road get attention from people leaving the tavern.
