October Update

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us.  I tried a case with Mark in The Dalles, OR this weekend – the same case we tried last October but received a mistrial.  The jury returned a split verdict, 50/50.  It was a disappointing verdict because we were hoping for a win, but at least we had fun.  It was my fifth trial.

Mike’s been putting in long hours at his office too.  His office looks really good and he’s nearly moved in.  Mike says that having an office has helped his productivity quite a bit.

This weekend, we went to a Halloween party at Skip and Kathy’s house.  The attorneys from my office were invited and most of them showed.  There were a lot of children running around and getting hyped on all the candy.  Skip really outdid himself with the decorations.  There was even a haunted basement.  Mike and I left early because Mike wasn’t feeling top notch and I had a race the next day.

This morning, Pete and I ran a half-marathon.  We did it in 1:55, which is a PR for me.  There was a difficult hill right around mile 8-9.  Luckily, the race ended on a downhill.  Mike supported us and took some really great pictures.  Afterwards, Cynthia (Pete’s wife) made us waffles.  We spent some time with them and then came home to take a nap.  The rest of the day has been fairly lazy.  Though, next week looks to be busy too.

We’re nearly done putting in the sprinkler system.  It took us quite a while and we even re-did the valve system.  Now we’re down to one leak that we think we can fix.  The leak is a little too much to leave the system running, but the system does work.  We laid down seed last weekend with hopes that maybe the grass would grow this winter.  Of course, it’s supposed to get below freezing tonight, so maybe we’ll have to re-seed this spring.  We’re almost done and I think we have the hard part behind us.
